"In Europe, in the Middle Ages, the Church would sometimes enjoy forcing the local Jews into disputations about whose religion was the true one. At these events, a popular tactic on the Church's side was to make statements that the Jews couldn't possibly answer without blaspheming the name of Christ."
The Jews here are analogous to males in STEM fields.
