Питер Войт написал рецензию на новую книгу Роджера Пенроуза " Cycles of Time"; рецензия опубликована в Уолл Стрит Джорнал. По-моему, довольно странно заказывать рецензию на книгу знаменитого математика и физика человеку, который к науке имеет довольно опосредованное отношение и к тому же has an ax to grind . В общем, Войт хорошо монетизировал свою нелюбовь к теории струн.

Well, I don't think Woit got more than a couple of hundred $$ for this review. I would rather agree with Woit's assessment of "The road to reality." Also, the review never mentions string theory or any other theories that are "not even wrong."

I have not read this last book by Penrose, but I have read "The Road to Reality". In this instance Woit is not saying anything outrageous or even anything I disagree with. It is just that I do not trust Woit scientific judgment and expertise. And while there is much to criticize in "The Road to Reality", I would not rely on on Woit's opinion in these matters. And what is the point of reading a review if you do not trust it? A review by someone like Weinberg or Wilczek would be of much more interest.
